12.03.09 – Happy Holidays! Yes, it’s that time of year where we all need to take a moment to reflect on what is important to us, what we’re thankful for, and what holds the most meaning to us. If we take away the turkey and the food and the gifts and the tree and the lights and whatnot, what’s left is Family and Friends. So grab the people around you close, and let them know how special they are to you, and how appreciative you are of them. Material things come and go, but meaningful relationships last a lifetime!!

The weekend of the 21st of November, Rik “Sir Hooker” Newton-Treadway – Mr. Maryland Leather 2009, and I did the divide and conquer thing again, with him going to Detroit, MI for Mr. Detroit Eagle 2010, and I to Washington, DC, for Mr. DC Eagle 2010. We’ll start in Detroit first, where Sir Hooker reports of a wonderful weekend with his IML Class Brothers and a celebration of the awesome Title year that John Boslooper – Mr. Detroit Eagle 2009, has had. Held at the Detroit Eagle (natch! www.detroiteagle.com), and after the usual flurry of Bar Wear, Jock, Pop Question, and Full Leather, Alan Bouchard of Windsor, ON, Canada was sashed your Mr. Detroit Eagle 2010! Congratulations to Alan and best wishes for a wonderful Title year! A big thank you to John Boslooper, for all you have done and continue to do for the Community!

Back on this coast, Momma Connie Cox – Mr. Saliva 2004, and I jetted down (ok, drove…) to the DC Eagle (www.dceagle.com) to celebrate the awesome Title year that John Harris – Mr. DC Eagle 2009, has had, and to watch the seven Contestants vie for the Title of Mr. DC Eagle 2010. Current Titleholders present included Mr. Mid-Atlantic Leather 2009 – Kip Hollar, Mr. Maryland Leather 2010 – Justin Terry-Smith, Mr. Capital Pride Leather 2009 – Matt Bamford, Ms. Capital Pride Leather 2009 – Jackie Thompson, Mr. Club XS Leather 2009 – David Shover, and Mr. Double L Leather 2009 -  John Truzzolino. After a dizzying flurry of Bar Wear, Jock, Formal Leather, Speech and On-Stage Question, Derrick Thomas was sashed your Mr. DC Eagle 2010! Congratulations and wishes for a wonderful Title year to Derrick, and a big hug and thank you to John Harris for all you have done and continue to do for our Community!

The next weekend was the 36th Annual Santa Saturday thrown by the Bucks Motorcycle Club (www.bucksmc.org) at Paradise (www.paradisenj.com) in Asbury Park, NJ. Mr. Maryland Leather 2010 – Justin Terry-Smith, was representing all of us in Canada at Mr. Leatherman Toronto 2010. In the “Daddy Wagon” going to Asbury Park were Sir Hooker, Momma Connie, LuLu LaDiva, and yours truly. A big thank you goes to Spanky – Mr. NJ Leather 2008 for hosting all of us in his lovely home, including our Mid-Atlantic Community Bootblack 2009 – Brandon Riley and his Miss, Xani. Speaking of Xani and Brandon, they were both pinned over the weekend and welcomed into Mama’s Family (www.mamasfamily.org). Congratulations and welcome to the Family!! A big thank you also goes out to Daddies Sal & Dion, boy tom, and the rest of the NJ Leather Family (www.leathernjonline.com) who always make sure we’re taken care of and have a good time whenever we’re in Asbury Park.

Santa Saturday itself was a hoot, with wall-to-wall Leatherfolk, performances by the local Female Impersonators, and Auctions (both Live and Silent), and Raffles and whatnot. The best part is, it was all for Charity!

One event I am definitely looking forward to is the Night of the Misfit Toys at the Playhouse in Baltimore. Email bootblackbrandon@gmail.com for all the info and to get on the RSVP list. I promise, you won’t regret it.

Have I ever mentioned the Phoenix? Located at 1 West Biddle Street, Baltimore, MD 21201, 410.837.3906, it consists of Club Phoenix, which is a dance floor and a long bar upstairs, and Pub Phoenix, which is a more intimate setting with a pool table downstairs. Home to weekly Drag Shows on Saturdays and special events, such as the Meet & Greet for Mr. Maryland Leather 2010 (www.commandmc.org), the Phoenix is known for its ultra-friendly staff, ultra-budget-friendly prices, and offers “a place for everyone.” So go, be thirsty, ask for Bar Manager Paulie and tell him, “Sir Andy sent ya!”

So, please look at the Calendar of Upcoming Events, and I hope to see all of you soon, in Leather, out and about, and having an awesome time. With all of that, be kind to yourselves, each other, and practice random acts of kindness!!

Thank you Paulie, for Two Fisted!!
