After researching garden architecture and plantings, I designed and installed the present garden with a cast iron fountain, fishpond, brick patio, and walkway. A pergola, hot tub, outdoor kitchen, and piped-in music have been recent additions. A row of 12-inch arborvitae, acting as a property boundary, crepe myrtle, magnolia, and weeping Japanese maple give the space a pleasant view year round, while various annuals give a splash of color in the spring and summer making the garden a private oasis for relaxing evenings and friendly gatherings in the busy downtown area. ■

Gardens: Nicholas Piscatelli
By Nicholas PiscatelliWhen I purchased the property, the side garden was a plot of overgrown grass and rat infestation. The brick wall had collapsed and the cast iron fence was stolen. The Historic Commission gave me permission to restore the wall and railing and to add another three feet to the height.
