Notes From A Starry-Eyed Gazer:

Most Importantly:
It has recently come to my attention that as a means of responding to what its leaders perceive as recent extra violence in the Mount Vernon area, residents and the GLCCB have contemplated inviting the Baltimore Police to set up a substation or have a permanent presence in the building. As an astrologist, I must say: This. Is. Not. In. The. Stars. This is a very bad idea. This is not a response to violence so much as it is a perpetuation of violence.

Responses could include providing services and resources that meet needs of surrounding communities, as a Community Center is inherently designed to do. The Center is more than capable and long overdue to become a place where people can turn to—and feel welcome to turn to— to find food, jobs, multimedia information and tools, medical services, dialogues around hate and love, and educational resources. Incarceration, policing, police brutality and state violence are queer issues. Issues that queers face. Issues that queers can unravel. Incarceration and policing in the name of queers? No! Nonono.

Queers can confront state violence and work to unravel it. And a GLCCB can facilitate that. As queers, we innovate in the ways of love and support and intimacy. We know how to fill holes. We know how to make people feel good. We know how to morph bodies. We know how to put things where there is lack. We can innovate in the way of violence. We can extend our erotic and intimate innovations to broader scopes of communities. We can innovate community support and render policing moot. We can turn our fresh, gay eyes towards state violence and spawn new ways of loving and supporting within and among communities. We can confront and unravel genocide. We can facilitate flourishing and nourishment. That is in the stars.

I hope I do not see a permanent police presence or station in the GLCCB. I hope I see fundraising conducted by the GLCCB. I hope I see those funds directed towards life and nourishment and nurturing. I hope I do not see those funds and resources directed towards policing and incarceration, proliferating violence against queers and everybody.

And Also, To All The Beautiful Signs:
Mercury is in retrograde right now. This happens four times every year, for three weeks at a time. Mercury went into retrograde on September 7th, and will continue until September 28th. Mercury rules communication, technology, and transportation. When Mercury is in retrograde, communication becomes challenging, technology malfunctions, transportation becomes difficult. This is not a good time to sign contracts, change jobs, or buy gadgets. Big, new steps towards the future will be difficult during this time. It is a great time to work on things from the past: Go back and finish something you started awhile ago, rekindle old flames, heal from long ago wounds. Anything to do with your past can be resolved or rebirthed.

Gemini and Virgo are both ruled by Mercury; this means that Geminis and Virgos will either be extra affected by the retrograde or will be mostly immune to its forces. So be patient. Be retrospective. And after September 28th, look forward with so much fortified foundation and momentum!

And also:
Michael Jackson has passed away and the universe is blanketed with all that generous, passionate, innovative sparkle. Seize it. Wear it. Create. It is really, really true: You can imagine into reality. Get really specific and focused in your hopes, your imaginations, how and where you want to be. Watch it as it becomes real.
