Local girls Odd Girl Out will open for internationally-known New York City-based rock quartet Lez Zeppelin on Saturday, November 28 at The Quarter in Baltimore. Lez Zeppelin formed in 2004 and is the first all-female rock act to take on the challenge of playing note-for-note sets from one of the world’s greatest rock bands. They are known for playing to packed houses and frenzied sold-out shows spanning nearly every continent.
The ladies of Odd Girl Out are no strangers to the stage. They’ve rocked out at Wimfest, Baltimore Pride, Capital Pride, Ram’s Head Live, Sonar, The Talking Head, Outoberfest and far too many more to list. Odd Girl Out members describe themselves as “60% power-pop, 30% bubblegum-punk, 10% melodic rock, and 100% tired of playing by your rules since 2004.”
This show promises high energy and good times. Tickets are $15. Doors open at 8 p.m. for this all ages show. The Quarter is located at 316 Guilford Avenue.
The Shondes will be back in Baltimore for the first time since 2006 as they take on The Windup Space on Friday, November 20th at 9 p.m. Hailing from western Brooklyn this four-piece indie-rock band uniquely combines 90’s Queercore and Riot Girl power with traditional Jewish music. Their comparison to acts like Sleater-Kinney come as no surprise with the hard hitting distortion, melody, feminism and socio-political concerns being mixed together and transformed into raw power through cranked up amps.
Joining them on stage will be The Degenerettes, a queer art rock power trio from Baltimore, as well as Baby Aspirin, Baltimore’s long time psychedelic blues rock quartet. The Degenerettes also collaborate with The Miss America Puppet Show, and are subjects in Riot Acts, an indie documentary on transgender musicians.
This powerful show promises to explode with energy and is not to be missed. The Windup Space is located at 12 West North Avenue in Baltimore.
