10 questions to: Rens Teunissen #5

In this new section of Nederweert24, we ask a resident of Nederweert24 10 questions every Tuesday.

Today: Rens Teunissen

1. Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Rens Teunissen and I am an English teacher at Pelland College in Durn. To this end, I will complete a master’s degree in the Fontys Teacher Training Program at Sittard this year. I also run my own language agency Teunissen Teaching and am active as a singer on a semi-professional level. You will regularly find me on stage, in between or in front of a choir. “

2. How do you ship yourself?

To recharge myself, I love reading a good book, watching an episode of a good series on Netflix, or going to the theater. Fortunately, the latter is now also possible.

3. If you had to eat one dish all day, what would it be?

That’s simple: cheese! It’s not a dish, but you make me so happy. “

4. What is your favorite book?

For someone who loves to read, it is difficult to choose. If I had to really choose, I’d choose Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockinbird. It is highly recommended for anyone who loves to read and remains a classic of American literature. The book is still very subjective. “

5. What is your biggest hobby?

My biggest hobby is singing. I love to sing and a lot. Usually opera or musical repertoire. Singing frees me, relieves stress, and relaxes me. “

6. What word do you prefer to use the most?

I don’t have a better word to use. On the other hand, my favorite word in Dutch is “plain”. In the dialect that would be “peddemoeek”. What a wonderful word!

7. What does your perfect vacation look like?

Once that happens, I’d like to take a nice tour of the UK. Preferably in an old English car of course. This looks great. “

8. What is your biggest dream?

Secretly, I cherish the dream of one day having a career in theatre. I think it would be great to be able to give the audience a nice evening every night. I really enjoy it. “

9. What would you do first if you won the lottery?

Perhaps that money would be useful to pay for that tour through England. Sounds like a good plan to me, actually.

10. What will you do after 10 years?

I hope to continue teaching after 10 years. This could be in high school or somewhere else entirely. We’ll see, but I won’t give up on teaching, nor English either. It would be great if my language office continued to grow in the next 10 years. I hope to be as active in the music world as I am now in 10 years. I really want to keep this combination of teaching and singing alive. “
