Happy birthday always of course, but the anniversary works really well. In 2021, there will be many games that will be largely arriving in 2021 and this should be celebrated. Will developers and publishers disassemble these games? We hope so, but at least we put the games in the spotlight!

The question still remains as to whether this wonderful era will be celebrated in 2021. Sonic has got a movie in 2020 (with a sequel in the pipeline), but in terms of gaming, the SEGA icon has dried up for a while. The last title dates back to 2019 and that was more of a part in the series, namely Team Sonic Racing.

Ico (aged 20)

Ten years after Sonic the Hedgehog was released, a title was released that was iconic for PlayStation 2. Of course we mean Ico, the award-winning action / adventure title from Japan Studio and Team Ico. The PS2 game has been known as one of the best games of all time for nearly two decades.

This totally relates to the method designed by Fumito Ueda. Mastermind also later made Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian. The anniversary will likely not get very celebrated, although there is of course an opportunity to reveal more details about the new Ueda title this year. It has been working on it since 2018.

Okami will also celebrate its birthday in 2021. It’s the fifteenth anniversary of this elegant title for the movement you walk as Amaterasu in a beautifully designed world. Through a mixture of action, platform, and puzzles, players were constantly surprised in 2006 when the game came out on PlayStation 2 and Wii.

Since then, the game has appeared on many other platforms. For example, the game is now also playable on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The ideal way to celebrate its 15th anniversary is to give the game a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S edition, but the question is whether or not that will happen.

Anyone who talks about the 2021 anniversary can not forget that it is the tenth anniversary of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The game, which can now be played on nearly every platform over the past ten years, will turn out to be ten years old in November. The iconic title has now launched a whole new generation of games, just as it was.

With Skyrim, Bethesda has managed to reinvent the big open-world games, just as it were. Since then, many studios have considered Skyrim’s success and raised the bar (The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt). The only question is when will Part 6 finally come out. Ten years after Part Five, we still know very little about The Elder Scrolls VI.
