An Australian hobby prospector made the discovery of his life. He came across a 2.6kg gold nugget in the “Golden Triangle” in Victoria.

The gold was contained in a stone weighing 4.6 kg. The stone was sold to a local gold dealer, Darren Camp. He says the gold is worth more than 148,000 euros. “This is the Once in a lifetimefind,” he says in the Australian media.

The man who found the gold nugget wishes to remain anonymous. According to Camp, the man came up to him a few weeks ago: “He said, ‘I want to show you something.'” Do you think I can get $10,000 for this? “When he had the stone in his hand, Camp immediately felt that you could easily get A$100,000 (€61,000) for it.”

As if the surprise wasn’t big enough, the researcher then reported that this was only half of the stone: the other half was still in the house. “Wow, my wife would be so happy with this,” the prospector is said to have said at the time.
