Dominik Eckerter completed his most successful season in the World Supersport class with a dominant victory on Sunday afternoon in the second race at Phillip Island. It was the seventeenth win of the season for the Swiss and his farewell race in the class and in the service of Dutch Ten Cat Racing.

The Swiss were immediately good in the early stages on Sunday and were in the leading group where there was a lot of fighting. In the eighth round, the two-time world champion took a lead that he did not relinquish. With a lead of more than two seconds, Ekerter crossed the line as a winner for the seventeenth time this season and would end his two years with Ten Cat Racing on a high note.

Together, Ten Kate Racing and Aegerter have broken all records in the World Supersport class this season, a period that will be long remembered.

Dominik Egerter: “I don’t think the season could have ended any better. We already have the championship with three races and the last two years have been great for me and the team with two world titles, more wins, pole positions and faster races. I think we have made history.
Today’s race was great, finally able to drive in dry conditions on this great track. A little wind picked up and we had some great battles with Carigasulo, Baldasari and Pulega. I tried to stay in front and once I saw I had a small gap, I tried to push a little more to make sure they couldn’t overtake me with a slipstream.
Seventeen wins and nineteen podiums in one season is amazing, another big thanks to the Ten Cat Racing team. I would also like to thank the people at home: my family, friends, sponsors and coach, who have always kept me fully focused on the race. Of course it means that the guys at Nieuwleusen have done a fantastic job preparing the engine as best as possible and running 24 races without any technical problems. I will miss next year’s team and we will definitely be friends.

Kerwin Bose – Ten Gate Racing Team Manager: “The 2022 season is over: seventeen wins, two consecutive championships for both driver and team, most pole positions and fastest race laps. Unbelievable, what a year. We are more than proud and I don’t think we realize what we have all achieved in the last two seasons. We’ve grown in all areas and I think we’ll be in the history books for a while with 17 wins in one season.
I want to thank everyone for this season. Sponsors, partners and everyone who contributed in front of and behind the scenes: it’s been an amazing year.

After a long trip abroad, Ten Cat Racing returns to Nieuwlussen to prepare for next season. The first race weekend of 2023 will see the team return to Phillip Island, Australia for the first round of the 2023 World Supersport Championship season from 24-26 February.
