Amalia wants to become Maxima’s “luggage carrier” during the UN trip

A visit to Ivory Coast, then to Senegal and then tomorrow for the gala dinner in honor of Princess Ingrid’s 18th birthday in Norway: Maxima’s June schedule is full. However, she found the time to tell in front of the camera exactly what she is doing in Africa.

She traveled to Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Financing for Development (UNSGSA). These are the trips that pique the princesses’ curiosity when they return home, Maxima says.

Maxima teaches her daughters that not all women have a bank account like her. “They are shocked by the fact that the women do not have a mobile phone or insurance. They live with enormous risks that we do not know here in the Netherlands. And the fact that many girls cannot go to school because their mother cannot afford it, is shocking.”

Maxima reveals that Amalia, however, has sparked interest in the work of the United Nations. “Amalia asked me to be the bag-carrier for me once,” she says with a big smile. “I’m really looking forward to it. You’ll come one day, I’ve already asked. We’ll see when the study allows.”

In September, Amalia will begin studying politics, psychology, law and economics at the University of Amsterdam. Then it’s time to spread its wings and rent a room in the capital. The princess’s choice of study did not come entirely out of the blue. in this book amalia Claudia de Brij has already written that Amalia is considering an “economic study” and that her interests lie in history, economics, and law. Amalia would like to get her bachelor’s degree in the Netherlands and join the student body. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, the princess prefers to travel abroad to pursue her master’s degree.
