chant There are about 150 to 200 works of art in Enschede in parks, neighborhoods and along the highway. This other art story tour brings works of art to life by adding new stories. Boone: “Art in public is much more a part of everyday life than a painting in a museum. You walk past it every day. They are landmarks in the area. If those works of art could talk, you’d hear the most amazing stories. Stories about first love, about Chance encounters that end in friendship for life, you name it. What if people share their stories? This is how the idea of the Other Stories art tour was born. We want to encourage people to share their story and help the initiative grow. In 2024, we also want to make The artworks in the outer area of Hengelo can be accessed via the website, in order to eventually slowly grow into an initiative that covers the whole of Twente.” In 2025, the celebration of 700 years of Enschede is on the agenda. The initiators want to take the works of art and monuments and historic buildings and other striking objects in public spaces as a starting point for a special festive edition of another art tour, in collaboration with choirs, stage makers, artists and residents of Enschede.
