Bad news for people who share a Netflix account with someone else, your parents, neighbors, and friends. A lot of people are doing this now, because Netflix has limits on the number of devices you can stream and watch at the same time, but not on the number of homes these devices are in.
Some users in the US receive notifications from Netflix asking them to verify that they live in the same home as the account holder.
The message reads: “If you don’t live with the owner of this account, you will need your own account to continue watching.”
Users are then asked to use a code sent to the account owner or emailed to proceed.
It looks like Netflix wants to prevent people at different titles from sharing the subscription.
The Netflix Terms and Conditions state that “The Netflix Service and any content displayed through the Service is for your personal, non-commercial use only and may not be shared with anyone outside of your household.”
Apparently, Netflix is considering working on this ruling. Then the service becomes much more expensive for tens of millions of Netflix users
