Brexit rules cost Lucy Charles dearly; It is unclear when she will be able to race again

This weekend, Ironman 70.3 Kraichgau or The Championship and Challenge Roth at the end of June: These are just a few races that Lucy Charles has been running around on her docket, and she may just be at the start. However, this could be a major blow – at least for the first two races – due to the Brexit rules: Charles is not allowed to leave the UK at the moment.

Due to Brexit – 31 January 2020 – Britons are not allowed to stay in the Schengen countries for more than ninety days (in a continuous change period of 180 days). However, Charles has already “used up” 88 days of this and will therefore have to wait for the time being until you can stay abroad again for a longer period of time.

The Schengen countries are Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Slovenia Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Charles was still just getting started at the European Open in Ibiza last week – where she finished third – but this year she’s had a great deal of time in Lanzarote.

I have worked very hard with some of the best British and German immigration lawyers to get my visa. For now I will continue to train hard at home and the next race will probably be somewhere in the UK.”
