On Tuesday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention added three locations in Europe – from cold northern climates to sunny south – for the most dangerous type of travel.

In the weekly update of the COVID-19 Travel Advice, the CDC did not recommend travel to the following countries and placed them in the “Level 4: COVID-19 Highest” category:

Malta
Moldova
Sweden

The CDC ranks 4th with a target of more than 500 cases per 100,000 population in the last 28 days.

Sweden, the famous Scandinavian countryIt was previously considered Level 3 and “high risk”. It now joins Level 4 with other Scandinavian countries such as Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway. The Mediterranean island of Malta was also ranked 3rd last week.

From the radar of most tourists, the Eastern European country of Moldova once fell into the ‘unknown’ category. The CDC sets targets in that category when there is not enough reliable data to evaluate.

The continuing tragedy of Europe

As another alarming sign of the Covit-19 situation in Europe, the CDC did not downgrade any target on that continent last week.

In fact, it has been in the UK tier 4 since July 19th.

However, Europe is not the only continent with popular Tier 4 tourist destinations. Other destinations are considered “high” travel risk:

Level 3 Extras

Type 3 – applicable to locations with 100 to 500 cases per 100,000 residents in the last 28 days – saw two additions on Tuesday:

Argentina
Brunei

Argentina, the South American travel favorite, was very cautious in allowing foreign visitors for most epidemics, having previously been in Level 2.

The move was good news for Brunei’s small Muslim sultanate, which was in Level 4.

Level 2, Level 1 and Unknown

Areas rated “Level 2: Moderate Govt-19” have experienced 50 to 99 Govt-19 infections per 100,000 population in the last 28 days. The situation saw three additions on Tuesday:

Cuba

Guatemala

Cuba, the largest island in the Caribbean, was ranked Level 3. Gabon, Guatemala in Central America, on the Atlantic coast of Africa along the equator. He was in level 3.

In the ‘Level 1: Decrease of Govt-19’ target category, less than 50 new cases per 100,000 population have been registered in the last 28 days. And saw only one addition – the island country? Chao Dom in Principe Beyond Gabon Beach.

Finally, as mentioned above, there are “unknown” risks to CDC due to lack of information. Usually these are small and remote places. On Tuesday, the CDC added three seats to this category:

The CDC warns that fully vaccinated passengers should not go to places where there are no reliable statistics on the current status of Covit-19.
