Citi wants to develop Katwilgweg on the Left Bank: “a space to work, live, learn and relax” | Antwerp

AntwerpThe city of Antwerp wants to develop the Katwilweg area on the left bank, where the editorial office of Gazet van Antwerpen is located. The goal is to create housing, training centers and infrastructure for relaxation.

The lower house on Friday approved the initiation and process memorandum for the “Katwilgweg 2.0” spatial implementation plan. The city can now begin working on a concrete sketch of the plan, along with the Antea Study Office. The possibilities of using this area will be expanded: from just a commercial area to a new one with space, among other things, to work, live, learn and relax.

“With the spatial implementation plan, we want to make better use of the space, make the area multifunctional and take it out of its current isolation,” says Antwerp Alderman Urban Development Annick De Ridder (N-VA). “The focus is on undeveloped sites in the eastern part of the scheme area, with an emphasis on office functions, a smaller share of SMEs and a limited urban program. New bike paths will connect the area to other parts of Linkeroever.”
