The man was given a stop sign by the police at 11:30 p.m. last Saturday night for driving at 80 kilometers per hour in a zone where about 50 people are allowed. When a policeman came his way and saw the whole scene, he quickly decided to trade places with his dog. The man got out through the co-driver’s seat and said he was not driving.
Obvious signs of alcoholism
According to the police ‘Did the man exhibit obvious signs of intoxication’. When asked about this, he ran away. However, he didn’t get far: he was arrested less than 20 meters from the car, police said.
It turned out that the man was driving in the wrong direction. Instead of driving west from Las Animas, Colorado to Pueblo, he drove 84 miles southeast to Springfield.
The driver was taken to hospital for a medical examination and later detained. Two arrest warrants have already been issued against him, and he now faces charges including drunken driving, resisting arrest and aggravated speeding. According to police, his dog got off alert. He was picked up by an acquaintance of the driver.
