Expanding strategic cooperation between Qatar Airways and Malaysia Airlines

Following the announcement by Malaysian Airlines to launch non-stop service from Kuala Lumpur to Doha from May 25, Qatar Airways and Malaysia Airlines have unveiled the next phase of their strategic partnership. Both partners will significantly expand their code-sharing partnership.

The expansion of the code sharing, which will add 34 seats to the existing 62 crore shares, is another milestone in the long-term cooperation between the two countries’ national airlines and OneWorld Partners. This agreement provides class lounge access for the entire trip, offering benefits to travelers from around the world.

As of May 25, 2022, passengers flying from Kuala Lumpur to Doha on Malaysia Airlines ‘new service will have access to 62 code sharing points across Qatar Airways’ extensive network in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America. Similarly, Qatar Airways passengers traveling from Doha to Kuala Lumpur will receive unrestricted relocation to their entire domestic network and 34 Malaysian Airlines destinations in Asia, including major destinations in Singapore, Seoul, Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City. By connecting the two route networks, the partners aim to make Kuala Lumpur a leading aviation hub in the Southeast Asian region, which connects Malaysia, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand with the Middle East, Europe, North – and South America and Africa.
