With the Galaxy S21 series, Samsung is giving its cutting-edge smartphones its own face with a fresh design. For example, there is no longer a “camera island” in the center at the back: the cameras are now in the top corner, with the camera unit merging into the edge. With this design, the S21 looks a little different from the competition.
On the technical level, there are basically small improvements, but Samsung has also lowered the introductory prices, significantly enough. Galaxy S21 is being sold from 849 euros (128 GB). That’s 150 euros cheaper than the S20 up front.
Plastic back
The S21 has a plastic back, while the S20 has a glass back. The back of the S21 + and S21 Ultra is still made of glass. The three new Samsung phones in the Netherlands are powered by the new Exynos 2100 chip, which will be up to 20 percent faster than the S20 chip.
The S21 has a 6.2 inch AMOLED screen, while the S21 + has a 6.7 inch screen (both 1080 x 2400) and the Ultra version is the largest with a 6.8 inch (1440 x 3200) screen. All monitors have a dynamic refresh rate of 120Hz.
S21 Ultra
The S21 Ultra now supports operation with the Samsung S Pen, which was previously only Galaxy Note smartphones. The S Pen is not included and cannot be stored in the phone itself: You have to purchase a special case for this.
The Ultra has more RAM: 12 or 16 GB. The Ultra also has a version with more storage capacity (512GB), while the other two models have a 128 or 256GB storage option. The Ultra also has the largest battery out of the three.
The S21 and S21 + aren’t very different from last year’s S20 cameras. You can now shoot 8K videos with the main camera. Night mode has been upgraded: You can increase the shutter speed, for example. The S21 Ultra has four cameras instead of three. The new main camera offers 108 megapixels with laser autofocus. The Ultra also has two zoom lenses with 3x and 10x optical zoom. The digital “Space Zoom” can be enlarged again up to 100x.
There is no charger and earplugs in the box
Included in the box with the new phones There are no earplugs and no charging plug Lake. Samsung has left it, just like Apple with the iPhone 12, because many consumers already have the right charging accessories.
The Galaxy S21 supports 5G phones in the Netherlands and is on sale starting January 29. The S21 is available in white, anthracite, purple, and pink. The S21 + is available in matte black, matte green / silver, purple, and pink, while the S21 Ultra is available in black or silver.
There are no microSD tickets
In addition to the 128 GB version (849 euros), the S21 is also available with 256 GB of storage for 899 euros. The Plus version costs 1049 € (128GB) or 1099 € (256GB). The S21 Ultra costs 1249 euros (128 GB, 12 GB of RAM), 1299 euros (256 GB, 12 GB of RAM) or 1429 euros (512 GB, 16 GB of RAM). Storage capacity cannot be increased with microSD cards.
