Google launches its loyalty program Google Play Points in the Netherlands. This program allows Play users to save points with every purchase from the app store to purchase other content from the Play Store.

Google Play Points

Google Play Points is a rewards program in which you get points when you buy something from the Play Store. You can compare them with well-known stamps in the supermarket where you can save points or stamps for beautiful cutlery or a new, very sharp knife set for every € 10 shopping mall. With Google Rewards, on the other hand, you can save points for apps and games, but also for movies, TV shows, e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and subscriptions. So you can redeem points for other content in the Play Store. Donating to charity is also an option.

How do Google Play Points work?

When you buy something on the Play Store, you receive points. These points can be used in three ways:

• Convert the points into Play Store credit that you can use to rent a movie or buy an audiobook at a later time, for example
• Use points to receive coupons, in-app purchases (such as characters, coins, or gems in a game), or Google Play credit
• Get more benefits, rewards, and points as you level up

Different stages

Saving points with Google Play Points can bring more benefits. You start by earning 1 point for every dollar you spend on the Play Store. Then, as a one-time bonus, you earn 3 times the points for the first 7 days. If you collect enough points in a calendar year, you level up 1. This, in turn, results in more points and benefits. The higher your level, the more points you earn. These levels are divided into bronze, silver, gold and platinum. In the chart below you can see what the different levels involve.

Subscribe to Google Play Points

Participating in Google Play Points is free, so you come to the Netherlands. You can register for the rewards program Through this link On the play store or via the mobile website of the play store. At the moment, the mobile site is giving an error message. The offering may not be completed yet.

• Open Google Play Store In the browser on your mobile phone
• Open the side menu via the three dashes
• Click on “Play Points”
• Click on “Join for Free”

Via desktop:

• On your computer, go to play.google.com
• Click play points from the side menu
• Click Join
