GroenLinks and Party for the Animals want to ban meat ads in public places. Both sides discussed this today Asks Submitted to college.

GroenLinks and Party for the Animals point to Harlem as the first city in the world to ban meat advertising in public places due to the negative impact of meat production on the climate. Party for Animals and GroenLinks in Utrecht see more reasons to ban meat advertising in public places. They point to animal suffering, water consumption, deforestation, and nitrogen emissions associated with meat production.
It became possible to ban forms of advertising from public places at the end of 2021 when the Utrecht Council adopted the initiative proposal “A Fossil Declaration for Weather from Public Spaces”. With this, it was decided that expressions of fossil declarations might not be displayed in the public space in Utrecht (by recording this in the new contracts in a timely manner and already having the right conversation with the operators of the existing contracts).
However, according to both parties, a good definition of “advertising of meat” is still needed. Because in addition to pork and beef, poultry and fish can also be used here. So the parties are also wondering whether the committee is ready to come up with a definition of meat advertising.
