The municipality of Hoeksche Waard completed a months-long process on Tuesday afternoon, investigating in cooperation with the Province of South Holland how often circular work was carried out in the outer area. Public Space Management Team Director Mark Kickert and local sustainability councilor Harry van Wyveren symbolically signed a detailed roadmap. This roadmap helps the municipality to make circular choices during the bidding and procurement processes.
Ambitions don’t lie. The Netherlands wants to be 50% circular in 2030 and even 100% circular in 2050. Hoeksche Waard municipality is therefore fully involved in the change to reuse raw materials and produce less waste.
maximum effect
The BOR team has planned physical flows for paving projects, such as the construction of a road or bike path. In several sessions, the BOR team practiced circular concepts and methods. By identifying what the team could contribute to the round approach, the insight arose to score the turn. This is the basis for the roadmap that has now been created. In the construction and maintenance of sidewalks, Hoeksche Waard Municipality will apply this roadmap to maximum effect. This means that the municipality makes circular choices in both day-to-day management and its role as client.
