Leeuwarden – From Friday, the WTC Expo vaccination site in Leeuwarden provides space for people over 80 to be vaccinated against the Coronavirus. Vaccination of people over the age of 85 began at the beginning of this week. Because there is space left, the slightly smaller group can now receive an injection.
GGD Fryslân invites this group of 80 to 85 years of age to contact them by phone at 088. 22-300. This is in advance of the invitation letter from the RIVM that those over 80 can anticipate starting February 5. Nationwide, GGD GHOR considers that there is regularly leftover space at vaccination sites. People over the age of 80 are informed by their general practitioner, but can also schedule an appointment themselves via 088-22 99300 (available seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.).
It is important that people over the age of 80 keep a Citizens Service Number (BSN) on hand when scheduling an appointment over the phone. The invitation letter from RIVM can be considered as not dispatched if an appointment is already scheduled before February 5.
More vaccinations
As more vaccines are available from Biontech / Pfizer, 700 mobile elderly people can be vaccinated daily since Tuesday. At first, it was 275 a day. Along with the injection of staff into nursing and care homes, 1,045 vaccinations are now being conducted at WTC Expo.
The site temporarily opened five additional puncture lines. GGD Fryslân calls on everyone to arrive on time for the injection. Not too early and not too late. This is to avoid long lines.
Wadden Islands
For people over the age of 80 in the Frisian Islands and Wadden, GGD Fryslân will come to the islands for vaccination from mid-February.
