Manchester United is almost certain of the Champions League after winning

Manchester United is likely to play in the Champions League next season. Dutch coach Eric Ten Hag’s team almost secured its place in the top four of the English Premier League on Saturday by defeating Bournemouth (0-1).

Liverpool drew at home to Aston Villa (1-1) after a weeks-long winning streak. Jürgen Klopp’s club is three points behind Manchester United and Newcastle United, but he has played a game more, and therefore he has only one match to play this season.

Casemiro put United ahead after less than 10 minutes. The Brazilian scored from a bicycle kick after a defender failed to intercept Christian Eriksen’s pass.

Qualifying for the Champions League would be Ten Hag’s second major success in England, having previously won the League Cup with United. The club is also in the FA Cup final, the opponent at Wembley is Manchester City.

Wout Weghorst played the last half hour for Manchester United.

Ollie Watkins missed a penalty after just over 20 minutes on behalf of Aston Villa against Liverpool, which he himself had ‘capped’ after being knocked down by Ibrahima Konate. The striker pushed the ball away from Alisson’s goal.

Just under half an hour later, it was still a hit for Villa. Jacob Ramsey finished in controlled fashion at the far post after a cross from Douglas Luiz. Roberto Firmino, who will soon leave Liverpool, equalized 1-1 in the 89th minute. Shortly after the break, a goal from Cody Jaco was ruled out for offside. Virgil van Dijk and Jakobo were key players at Liverpool.

Manchester City and Arsenal are already sure of participating in the Champions League in the Premier League.
