The two talk to each other about their experience with the word “deva” and the negative connotations that come with it. “It’s not something I have anything to do with,” Prince Harry’s wife said. Carrie doesn’t think so: “You have diva moments sometimes, Meghan, don’t pretend.”

Megan reacts somewhat shocked. “What kind of a singer’s moment?” she asks. According to Carrie, it’s mainly about her looks. “It’s the visual,” she says. “Let’s pretend you weren’t so pretty and don’t have it all, you might be less than a diva.”

Later in the podcast, Meghan admitted in the voiceover that that moment made her a little nervous. “Of course you can’t see me, but I’m starting to sweat a little and shift in my seat like, ‘Wait, what, no? It’s not true, why would you say that?’. I thought, What a crap you must have read it to say that.”

Meghan says Maria saved her: “She must have felt my nervous laugh and as I heard she made it clear right away that it had to do with the way I dressed and my attitude.”
