The Australian Grand Prix organization is currently searching for a new leader. Andrew Westacott has been the boss of the Australian Grand Prix in recent years and certainly not without merit. A notable name has been mentioned as a replacement for Westcott.
According to the generally well-established SpeedCafe, Michael Massey’s name has also been mentioned. Masi is now back in Australia and has the right experience for the position. The former Formula 1 race director was asked about a possible management position for the Speedcafe Grand Prix, but Masi declined to comment on the stories.
Since Massey left the FIA, he has held a number of posts in Australia. The former Formula 1 race director became part of the South Australian Motor Sport Board and was given a top position in Australian Supercars. Last week, Masi was announced as a team member at Karting Australia. Massi was succeeded in Formula 1 by Niels Wittich and Eduardo Freitas. This new race director duo also had to face criticism this season.
