More Dutch Made to UK in Q1 2021

Exports of Dutch-made goods to the UK were valued at €5.7 billion in the first quarter. The value of re-exports in that period amounted to 3.2 billion euros. In 2020, the Dutch economy generated nearly 56 cents per euro from exports of Dutch-made goods to the UK, compared to 14 cents per euro in re-exports.

The importance of Dutch-made exports to the UK has increased

In the first quarter of 2021, the total exports of goods produced in the Netherlands grew by 8 percent; Much lower than the growth of exports to the UK (24 per cent). This is partly because the share of oil and gas in the export package is much larger than it was a year ago. Oil and gas prices rose sharply in the first quarter.

Partly due to these developments, the share of Dutch-made goods export to the UK increased in the first quarter from 6.5 per cent (Q1 2020) to 7.5 per cent. Although this is one percentage point higher than in 2020, compared to the first quarter of 2016, the share of Dutch manufactured exports to the UK was lower by more than one percentage point.
