National track cyclists pause after terrible fall with Amy Peters

Dutch cycling coach Volko van Gulik has temporarily resigned from his position. The KNWU Cycling Federation confirms a message about this from NOS.

Last December, Van Gulik crashed with Amy Peters during road training in Calpe, Spain. Peters suffered serious brain damage from the fall and is still in a coma in a Dutch hospital.

The National Union of Women’s Trade Union does not know how long Van Gulick will be out. Al-Ittihad is looking for an internal solution and has commissioned sprint coach Mehdi Kurdi to prepare for the first matches of the Nations Cup in Glasgow in April.

Van Gulick has been in charge of elite cyclists in endurance events since the fall of 2021.
