Almost 27,000 euros have already been raised for the chronically ill Lisa from Stadt. Last Sunday, an event took place at the Rowing Club de Hans to raise as much money as possible. Maaike Jansma is proud of the progress.

Hi Mikey! Lisa is your best friend. I talked to you last week too. How is she at the moment?
“He is currently undergoing the second part of his treatment in Queensland, Australia. Lisa is 35 years old and is chronically ill. She has chronic fatigue syndrome (ME), she has migraines and she has POTS. The latter is a disease in which fainting occurs if you stand up too quickly. He recently received the first part of his treatment in England. That treatment worked. However, a second treatment is also required. The problem is that the health insurer does not reimburse the treatment. She is now in Australia because her parents are using their pension, which makes it financially possible.

For you, it’s a reason to keep taking action…
“Okay. Her parents are eating their pension now, that’s not fair. Last Sunday there was an event at KGR De Hunze where I along with other rowers tried to row as long as possible on an ergometer. It’s a machine where you do rowing movements. I started at 1:00 p.m. I took a break every ten minutes. I got help from 2pm and we turned it into a relay race. Together we rowed for three hours and ten minutes. Lisa also stopped by her brother during this activity. He lives in the city and showed his involvement by rowing part of it. He wanted to show off.

I have now seen one such ergometer. It’s pretty heavy, isn’t it?
“It’s really hard. But I managed to keep it up by rowing slowly. It was a success with the help of all the other rowers. The connection was great. He brought bananas and chocolate milk to stay strong. Most rowers don’t know about Lisa. It’s beautiful, isn’t it?”

The aim was to raise as much money as possible…
“It can actually be done in different ways. People can sponsor us, but we also have a piggy bank where you can donate. I stuck a piece of paper printed with the interview you published last week on the entrance gate of De Hans. I also put a QR code for people to donate through Tiki. It was really nice. A I happened to stand there and see someone who read the article and changed an amount. Not in the spotlight, but anonymously, at a distance. It really touched me.

Of course we want to know how much money was raised…
“It is not yet clear how much money we raised on Sunday. But I can say that out of the intended 30,000 euros, 26,725 euros have now been raised. So we’ve come a long way already!”

How did Lisa respond?
“She traveled to Australia last week. She mostly got the action on Sunday. Due to the time difference, she went to sleep when it was 3 pm here. But she got a good picture through videos and photos. She likes it. She is very impressed with how everyone perceives her.

Advertising for Lisa is still going on. For more information and donations, Possible on this website.
