No Rucphen Cross, No NK cyclocross

The NK cyclocross of the elite and the promises of Zaltbommel and the cyclocross of Rucphen definitely won’t be done this winter. As the lockdown in the Netherlands was extended until February 9, it became impossible to keep the two matches.
“There is very little space for sporting activities in the event of closure,” the National Trade Union Confederation says. “Major sporting competitions may be organized under strict conditions, such as the last World Cup at Cyclo-Cross at Holst Burkbolder. This relates to competitions with top athletes who more or less live in a bubble and sports where competition must also be part of a necessary path towards the World Cup. And / or the Olympic Games. The authorities responsible for Nagorno Karabakh did not see this necessity. “
The Cycling Federation is still looking into the possibility of young men and women riding the Dutch championships elsewhere. The current champions in the elite and in the U23 category, Matteo van der Boyle, Celine del Carmen Alvarado, Ryan Camp and Ingie van der Heiden – as long as they stay active in the same category this winter – can wear their hero shirt for a year longer. Zaltbommel organizes the NK cyclocross on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 January 2022.
