While the rumor mill about the next generation of video cards is running at full speed, Twitterer Kopite7kimi has updated the expected specifications for the RTX 4070. For example, the leaker indicates that this SKU will be much more powerful than originally thought.
Nvidia will use the fully-enabled AD104 GPU, which has 7,680 cuda cores. With 12GB of gddr6 memory, 21Gbps and a 192-bit bus, the RTX 4070 should be able to score at least 11,000 points in 3DMark Time Spy Extreme. This puts it very close to the RTX 3090 Ti, which averages 11.418 points. Compared to the main Ampere power (450 watts), the Lovelace card will consume “only” 300 watts, which is the third most economical.
When the RTX 4070 will be fully available is unclear at the moment. It is rumored in the arcade that the RTX 4090 will be announced around October, followed by the RTX 4080 in subsequent months. In any case, it seems that the video card based on the AD104 will not be presented this year.
