The stands at the Zandvoort circuit early Friday were filled with visitors to the Dutch Grand Prix. By 11 am, tens of thousands of people had already taken their assigned seats. They are waiting for their first free practice starting at 11:30 AM. The vast majority of people wear orange clothes.
They gathered at the entrance to look at the oncoming drivers. They saw Max Verstappen arrive on a motorbike. German Sebastian Vettel arrived by bicycle, the mode of transportation promoted by the organization. 40% of Zandvoort visitors are expected to come by bike.
After 36 years, Formula 1 is back on track in the dunes, which have been completely renovated and modernized. The last race was in 1985, and the Austrian Niki Lauda won.
