Today San Holo is releasing a double single, ‘Black and White’ and ‘My Fault’ – his much-anticipated new album ‘BP Are You Okay?’ (May 21). Both songs represent a very emotional and personal chapter for Sander, in which we find him reflecting on the issues of a previous relationship, resulting in his most important and thought-provoking music to date.
Commenting on what both songs mean to him, Sander says: “’My Failure’ is the most unique song I’ve ever written. This is a song about a chapter in my life, a relationship with the highs and lows. Being on the road a lot and being with music is my number one priority. I have always been skeptical of getting into a relationship and was afraid that someone might not be able to give me the whole thing. I couldn’t easily fall in love until this happened to me recently.
That relationship was dominated by deep emotions and brought back memories that shaped me as the person I am today. Unlike many things in this world it was very real, and it was serious in the best and worst ways. I think sometimes it happens when you allow yourself to be loved deeply.
When the relationship broke down I felt guilty for a long time for not being able to do it, but as time went on, as my perspective changed, I began to see that things were not so black and white. In my mind, I had been blaming the subconscious for a long time … but was it really my fault?
Writing these songs helped me get back on track. During the first few days I was in LA to write this album, I had a hard time bringing something that felt musically good. My failure was finally the first song I ever did for BP Yuk? Wrote and was very interested. In many ways this has been the starting point of the album. ”
There are no less than 20 songs on the new album. You see Chan take his own path back into the alternative indie world using analog instruments and collaborations with rock band American football and Rivers Cuomo (Weiser). The recently released single ‘IT. The single, which peaked at # 41 on the Billboard Hot Dance / Electronic Songs chart, is a place to stay confident and positive during difficult times, a theme that runs throughout the album.
The album ‘BP Are You OK?’ It follows the internationally acclaimed Sander’s previous album ‘Album 1’. It won the Chan International Dance Music Award for Best Breakthrough Artist of the Year and the Edison Pop Award for Best Dance Album in the Netherlands. His 2019 Album 1 World Tour featured 75 shows and sold over 100,000 tickets in North America, Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Australia, including shows at the Red Rocks Amphitheater, Terminal 5 in New York and the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
