Wouter de Vries, the crime journalist’s younger brother, called on Amsterdam Mayor Vimke Halsema to name a street after de Vries on the talk show Humberto last week. On Saturday, Alderman told Herbert Ratt (VVD) Van Amstelveen Amstelveen Z that his municipality is open to assigning a street name to Peter R. de Vries, if an application is submitted. “Peter R. de Vries has lived in Amstelveen for a long time: we knew him and he grew up here. I need not explain that he was a private resident. Of course we are open to that,” Ratt says.
The online condolence register, by Peter R. de Vries’ condolence log, created on July 15, was signed more than 37,500 times Sunday evening.
