Sliedrecht Sport loses exclusive rights to prizes: “Utrecht has a bit more experience” | Regional Sports Dordrecht

Sliedrecht Sport volleyball players no longer have the exclusive right to receive trophies in the Netherlands. The most successful Dutch club, which has won fourteen of the fifteen trophies within national borders, had to leave the Supercup for Utrecht on Friday. The guests won 1-3 on De Basis.

Sliedrecht Sport has been untouchable in recent years and only left the cup in 2021, after being eliminated in the quarter-finals by FAST. But after last summer’s turnaround, in which the successful Gil Sledrecht said goodbye and several young players turned up, that integrity has come to an end.

Eredivisie leader

Utrecht, who lost the cup final in Eide this year, has already lost twice this season to Sliedrecht Sport in the course of the competition, but started the Supercup as the leader of the Eredivisie. And that this position is not a coincidence. Where Slydrecht Sport, which has had a Super Cup subscription for the past five years, bowed its head after two thrilling sets and two sets with big differences.

The biggest experience in Utrecht also showed in the first two sets, we narrowly lost it and finally got the difference.

Emma Rikar, Sliderecht Sport player

The big difference this season is that Utrecht has a bit more experience than we do. This was also evident from the first two sets, which we lost narrowly, and made the difference in the end,” noted Emma Rikar, captain of Sledrecht Sport who remained in the Alplacerwaard. And she had to pass on the congratulations to her sister, former Sledderach athlete Anna Rikar.

change

The two teams met six days ago in competition. Compared to that match, there was one change in Sliedrecht’s starting squad: Lana Lijkendijk, who was out on Saturday with an eye injury, stayed aside and Laura de Zwart, recently added to coach Elroy Bezemer’s selection, started.

Utrecht won the battle of decibels in the stands and seemed to have made the decisive hole in the final stage of Group A: 20-23. Sliedrecht Sport backed down and neutralized the first set point, got a chance to make the first pass and gave up at the third point: 26-28.

differ marginally

The differences also turned out to be marginal in the second company, with the difference that Sliedrecht Sport had the advantage at the start in the big points: 22-20. However, Utrecht held out and turned the set around: 23-25. Which faced Sliedrecht Sport a formidable task.

The home side started briskly: going 8-1 and 16-5, Sliedrecht Sport pulled off a solid win (25-9), with Utrecht coach Ali Moghadmassian taking his entire starting line-up to the side via substitutions during the set.

service chain

In the fourth set, the serve of Carla Molli, the Utrecht traffic runner, made an early difference (1-6) and fouls and carelessness piled into the Sleidercht match. The home team was unable to gain control of the opponent’s balls. From 3-9, Sliedrecht Sport scribbled again to 11-13, but this turned out to be the final burp, as the team cruised from Domstad to the first prize in the club’s history: 14-25. Thanks to that Denise De Kant, who switched from Sliedrecht Sport to Utrecht this summer, has extended her subscription to the Dutch Grand Prix.
