Stephanie van der Graagt bids farewell shortly after the 100th international kick-off in Oranje-Leuenen | FIFA Women’s World Cup

Stephanie van der Graagt ends her career as a professional soccer player after the World Cup finals in Australia and New Zealand. The 101-times player will then say goodbye to Orange and her club, Inter, to make room for new challenges.

Van der Graagt made her debut for the Orange team on 8 March 2013 in the Netherlands-Switzerland match, which ended in a draw. She was a key player in the team that became the European champion in her country in 2017 and the second in the world in 2019 during the World Cup in France. Van der Graagt played her 100th international match in the match between Holland and Germany on April 7 this year. I’ve scored 12 goals for Orange so far.

The defender is proud of her football career: After the summer, I can look back on a successful career in which I lived out everything I wanted to experience as a professional footballer. Great trip! I will do my best to close the season well at Inter, but also to do my best for the orange lions. After the World Cup, it’s time to take on new challenges.”

National team coach Andries Juncker: “Stephanie shared her plans with us a while ago. So this announcement came as no surprise. Just over a week ago, close to the milestone of her 100th cap, she praised her for her tenacity. That’s what has marked her throughout her career. So I am confident that she will give everything for her team until the last minute of her active career.”
