'Stop this nonsense!' Champion Islam Makhachev tells UFC the truth

Recently crowned UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has asked the UFC to stop playing games. Makachev wants the organization to send him a contract to fight.

Makachev of Russia captured the vacant UFC lightweight title in Abu Dhabi last month by defeating the former champion. Charles Oliveira. After the win, Makachev called for a superfight with UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovsky.

Although Volkanovski has made it clear he’s up for the challenge, the UFC seems skeptical about the fight. Makachev took to Twitter, where he accused the UFC of “playing games” and insisted he was ready to fight any opponent at any venue.

Agreement

“I don’t know what the UFC wants, February Australia or March Vegas, I honestly don’t care about the location and the opponent, I never choose opponents. Send a contract, stop playing,” Makachev wrote.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Volkanovsky’s home country of Australia on February 11 for UFC 284. It currently lacks a title, and a title fight between Islam Makhachev and Alex Volkanovski will certainly fill that void.
