Supreme Basicchi scores its first MotoGP win in Argentinian rain | another sport

Marco Besicki took his first MotoGP win on Sunday. The Italian excelled on a wet, drenched circuit at the Argentine Grand Prix.

Bezzecchi immediately took the lead at the start. Next, rider from the Ducati team satellites off nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi to victory on the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit.

Bezzecchi left 24-year-old France’s Johann Zarco nearly four seconds behind. Spaniard Alex Marquez, brother of six-time world champion Marc Marquez, completed the podium.

Marc Marquez himself had to miss the race in Argentina. He underwent surgery earlier this week for a fracture on his right thumb. Marquez suffered that injury in the season-opening race in Portugal.

World champion Francesco Bagnaia crashed in Argentina eight laps from the finish while running second. The Ducati driver, who won both the sprint and the preseason main race in Portugal last week, had to cede the championship lead to Bezzecchi.

The MotoGP season continues in two weeks with the United States Grand Prix at the Austin circuit.
