The General Secretariat of the Arab Maghreb Union responded strongly to the criticism of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the appointment of Moroccan diplomat Amina Salman as representative of the Arab Maghreb Union within the African Union, and against the reception. Received from the Chairman of the African Union Committee, Moussa Faki Mohamed.
The General Secretariat of the Arab Maghreb Union indicated in a statement that the appointment of Amina Salman was decided in accordance with the rules and procedures in force, and that the reception of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for the new representative of the Arab Maghreb Union was in line with respect for diplomatic customs and international agreements.

The General Secretariat also expressed its deep regret about the “contradictions of the Algerian parties,” as it stated that the term of office of the Secretary-General finally ended on August 1, 2022, “although senior officials of the Algerian state have continued to communicate with the Algerian government to date.
