We explain it to you here
Initially, it was not yet clear what the symptoms of the Omigron variant were. We now know a little more about the virus, and the following complaints have been cited as ‘key symptoms’ of the Omigron variant:
- Running nose
- Sore throat
- Sweating at night
- Lower back pain
Difference with delta
According to Belgian virologist Marc van Ronstein, one important difference is that the delta may be located deeper in the lungs, which is less common in Omigran. “When it’s deep, pneumonia can develop. Omigron is mainly found in the trachea, throat and nose. It facilitates transmission and you can spread it every time you cough, but you can avoid dangerous pneumonia,” says Van Ronst.
In addition, with the Omigron variant you will be much less prone to fever and loss of smell and taste. “If you had those three things, you’re different,” explains Dirk DeVroy, professor of general training at the University of Belgium VUB. Newspaper.
