Tonight we hear our Eurovision entry for the first time: we already know this | Eurovision Song Contest

Cooper and Nikolai support each other

The group submitted the song to the Eurovision Song Contest selection committee. That committee, consisting of Cornald Maass, Jan Smit, and Carolyn Borgers, among others, then chose Burning daylight as a submission. Cooper and Nikolai now see each other almost every day, but previously they hardly knew each other. “We build the team. We often go for coffee. This way we get to know each other better,” said Nikolai.

It’s good that the two have each other’s back, because since the announcement in November they’ve already had a lot to put up with. For example, it has been suggested that the commission was a favorite of theirs because they are friends with Lawrence. Nikolay: “I dare say everyone has a fair chance. I’ve seen how carefully the selection system works. We were tested in several rounds of interviews. We went through the whole procedure.”

Lawrence accompanies the two

Lawrence is closely involved in the Eurovision performance, later in May. The singer accompanies the duet with his partner. This is how he does what Ilse DeLange did for him in 2019: think about performance and Starting. And as a former winner, Lawrence knows better than anyone what’s involved in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Cooper and Nikolai are already busy rehearsing for their May performance. On Tuesday the 9th, the crossover duo will take the stage in Liverpool and aim to make the top 10. If they succeed, they are sure of their place in the final on Saturday 13th May. The two hope to eventually go home with a win. Nikolay: “It would be great to win. I’m not going to lie about it.”
