During Pentecost weekend, the golf course at Glimmen is traditionally the venue for the Battle of Trompbeker, for players up to 21 years of age.
The prestigious tournament takes place on the course of North Netherlands Golf & Country Club (NNG & CC). Trompbeker has been on the Dutch Golf Federation (NGF) calendar since 1960. Since 1996, the Dutch Stroke Play Championship has been tied up to 21. The tournament is always held on the golf course in North Holland.
The most famous Trompbeker winner is Joost Luiten. He won in 2004. Darius van Driel, who is beginning to show himself more and more on the European Tour, is also on the list of winners. It was successful in 2010.
Among the girls, Anne Van Damme, who was delegated by NOC-NSF to the Olympic Games in Japan in 2021, was the winner with the biggest name and celebrity. She was the best in 2013. Marit Harrivan of Winschoten was the only one in the North in 2014 to win the Trumpeker. Karen Jansen of Drenthe came in second in 2009.
The organizing federation itself is well represented in the field of participants in the upcoming weekend edition. Keanu de Roo, Julian Deck, Koen Friesema and Jorn Tuenman have all been members of the North Holland First League team this season and are therefore in contention for home honours.
