The daughter and son-in-law of former President Donald Trump worked with him in the White House during his presidency. Kushner as a consultant dealt, among other things, with international relations. Ivanka Trump has also worked as a consultant, focusing on education.

Smith was appointed last November to handle two Trump investigations. The first investigation involves keeping secret documents at his residence in Florida after Trump left the White House. Last year, the FBI found thousands of documents that Trump should have turned over to the National Archives immediately after the end of his term, and which he denied having in his possession for some time.

The second investigation examines attempts to declare the results of the 2020 presidential election invalid. Trump still maintains that he is the legitimate winner of that election. His supporters tried to prevent Joe Biden’s victory from being certified in Congress on January 6, 2021, and with Trump’s encouragement, they invaded the Capitol. As a result, many people lost their lives.

Ivanka Trump was in the Oval Office on the day of the storm, when Trump called then-Vice President Mike Pence asking him to block or delay certification of the election results. Pence did not agree to this. Smith also summoned Pence. He has stated that he will oppose it.

Both Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner testified before the congressional committee investigating the attack on the Capitol. The results of this investigation were recently published and indicate that Donald Trump is responsible for the break-in.

The grand jury will determine whether there is sufficient cause to prosecute Trump based on the testimony and evidence. The special prosecutor can then proceed to trial. The former president wants to run for president again in 2024. It appears that his daughter and Kushner are not involved in his re-election campaign yet.
