“It’s been a fantastic season,” said Clio driver van Zoest, reflecting on a year of racing with a total of six events in Valencia, Portimao, Aragon, Jerez, Navarra and Barcelona. “It’s definitely not easy because of the regulations, because in this series we work with penalty time. The more often you win, the more time you have to stop at the pit stop. It could be up to 120 seconds, I can tell you. It seems so long when you’re in the car, haha! The last race in Barcelona, a race in two hours, a decision had to be made, the winner had to stop there less than 40 seconds, so there was no way I could make up for it, but I still finished second, and with that I became champion not only in my class, but also in the category, so I am now officially of the Federation. Listed as Spanish champion in the big book, I’m proud of it!”

The season also went satisfactorily for the core user competing with his trusty MARC. “I won four races overall, including the two-hour races, as well as all the GT3s. And I’m very happy with that in my old age,” he says with a laugh. For example, the user topped the GPX category and in Class 1 of the Copa de España GT. Only in the overall standings of the GT Championship did the user, Jose Mora/Francisco Abreu, have to play with the Porsche 991 trophy.

It’s 22 years old, but I’ll be racing it next season. Coming to me.”

Henk van Jost: “I just saw Cleo”

Henk van Zoest, on the other hand, is determined to be back there in next year’s Spanish Endurance Championship. “It’s a full championship, you drive all over Spain and in Portugal, while the costs are comparable to regional championships, so it’s very attractive.” However, Van Zost is looking at the possibility of switching to another car. “That Clio, I just saw it,” he says. “The plan is to start with a BMW M2 or a Porsche next year. But I definitely want to continue.”
