UK doubles financial aid to Ukraine | Currently

Britain provides 1.3 billion pounds (more than 1.5 billion euros) in military aid and aid to Ukraine. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced this on Saturday. The British government almost doubled its aid to Kiev. It will be the largest financial contribution by the British to a conflict since the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The United Kingdom is one of Kiev’s main allies. The country had previously sent anti-tank missiles, air defense weapons and other weapons to help Ukraine fight President Vladimir Putin’s Russian forces that invaded in late February. “Putin’s brutal attack is not only causing untold destruction in Ukraine, but threatening peace and security throughout Europe,” Johnson said in a statement.

The UK’s new pledge comes on the eve of the G7 meeting. Leaders of the club’s seven major western industrialized nations – Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States – will discuss the situation in his country with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday during a virtual meeting.
