Verstappen sixth in tire test at GP practice in Mexico

George Russell put Mercedes’ best time on regular tires with 1,19,970 ahead of Yuki Tsunoda and Esteban Ocon. Verstappen took 1.6 seconds on the Pirelli prototype tires. Lewis Hamilton was the fastest in the tire test with fourth place. He was a simple rapper about Sergio Perez and Verstappen. Earlier today, the Dutchman set the fourth fastest time in the first training session. He was then 0.120 seconds slower than Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz.

The session was halted for a long time with a red flag, after Charles Leclerc with his Ferrari crashed hard at the back of the tyre. Monegask manages to get out, but Ferrari takes a lot of damage.

Verstappen won the world title for the second time at the Japanese Grand Prix. Last week, the Red Bull driver scored his 13th win of the season at the United States Grand Prix, sharing the record for most wins in one year with Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel. If he wins one of the remaining three races, he is the only record holder.

Saturday is the third training session, after which qualifying for Sunday’s race begins at 10pm Dutch time. It will start at 9 pm.
