At the end of May, the “Strong for the North” campaign was launched in North Leidschendam. To see what can be done best in the Prinsenhof Hoog, De Heuvel and Amstelwijk districts, residents were able to fill out a ballot paper from May 25 to July 6.

In total, more than 700 residents indicated what to do when it comes to public spaces, green spaces, youth, safety and more. They expressed their opinion online, at the door or on the street. All completed ballot papers will be used for the “Guide to Traveling North,” which states what will be worked on over the next 20 years and what the final destination will look like.

“We can imagine you’re curious about what all the completed ballot papers came out with. That’s why we’d like to give you a taste. In the table below you can see which topics were voted on most often,” according to the municipality of Leidschendam-Voorburg.

Public space most popular topic
Public space, security and housing topics are by far the most popular. Waste problems are often mentioned in the explanation of public spaces, but there have also been many positive reactions, for example, to the amount of green space in neighborhoods. On the subject of security, more than half of the population made a comment about youth loitering. Under the topic of housing, overdue maintenance is regularly mentioned in the annotation. The suffrage campaign was an important step together with residents and organizations in Leidschendam-North to produce a ‘North Travel Guide’. Read more results in the attached infographic.
