The class was founded on October 10, 2018 with the goal of giving more girls and women a chance in motorsports. The first season was a reality in 2019. Visser came in second behind Chadwick and ahead of Powell. Then the class raced into the Displacement Tracking Matrix side program.
There was no W Series in 2020 due to the coronavirus. The plan has already been formulated to work more closely with Formula 1.
This series fits perfectly with the FIA’s #weraceasone philosophy. Everyone, regardless of race or gender, should have the opportunity to reach the top in the race. Because of the association with Formula 1, this is generating more interest.
When is the race?
The race will start on Saturday around 4:45 p.m. The race at Spielberg lasts 30 minutes plus one lap. Races can be followed live on Ziggo Sport. The W Series will be at Zandvoort at the beginning of September.
