Maurice Steinbergen and Des Schoutten return on Wednesday evening to the semifinals of the 100-meter freestyle and 200-meter breaststroke. Steinberg finished seventh in the 100-meter freestyle semifinals. Steinbergen swam in 54.13 seconds in the series. Australian Molly O’Callaghan flew fast in the semifinals in 53.49 seconds. He was ahead of Canada’s Penny Olexiak (53.70) and American Tori Huskey (53.72). World record holder Sarah Sjostrom finished fourth in the series (53.78).
In the 200-meter breaststroke, Schuten advanced to the semifinals. Schouten was good for the eleventh time in the series: 2.26.85. Canadian Kelsey Lauren Vogue was the fastest at that distance with a time of 2: 24.37 in the series.
The semifinals in Budapest are scheduled for 6pm, with Steinberg starting with the semifinals in the 100-meter freestyle. In the final of the 50-meter backstroke, Kra Dozind swam at 6.30pm, for which he finished seventh on Tuesday evening. Among other things, the program continues with the men’s 200m breaststroke (with Corbyu and Cummings) and the women’s 200m breaststroke (with Scouton).
